Chevy Chase Beach Cabins

Service: The Whole Damn Thing (Branding + Website Design) + Printed Goods

Chevy Chase Beach Cabins (no, not that Chevy Chase) has welcomed generations of guests to Washington’s Discovery Bay since 1897. The existing identity, however, no longer reflected the property’s history, natural beauty, or the care its owners bring to the guest experience.

The project began with a story that already felt a little improbable—the current owners were living and working in Seattle when they first came across the property, and initially thought buying it was a “bad idea” that didn’t quite make sense. But that sense of risk and intuition ultimately became part of what drew them in.

We reimagined the brand and digital presence with a responsibility to preserve what people already loved rather than overwrite it. Feedback from longtime guests helped ground the process in real memories and traditions, while the surrounding bay informed a calmer palette of blues and greens.

Heritage-inspired typography brings a sense of longevity, and a handwritten script references the owners’ tradition of leaving personal notes for each guest. Custom illustrations by Michelle Quintero of the property’s oak tree and cabins add warmth and a human touch.

The resulting identity feels elevated without becoming exclusive, nostalgic without feeling dated, and deeply connected to the landscape and community that have shaped Chevy Chase for more than a century.

The History

Since 1897, Chevy Chase Beach Cabins has been a haven for seaside escapes. Perched above Discovery Bay, it’s a place where generations have come to slow down, savor the view, and fall in love with the wild beauty of the Olympic Peninsula.
